Weston House Fire Still Under Investigation

WESTON, Conn. – Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that gutted much of a home at 6 Woods End Lane in Weston on Wednesday afternoon.

Weston Fire Chief John Pokorny said Thursday that he’s still trying to rule out possible causes for the blaze. Pokorny said the fire does not appear to be suspicious. Pokorny, the state fire marshal’s office and an investigator with homeowner John Horner’s insurance company are still combing through information.

“It’s down to an area of origin at the garage end of the house. That’s where there’s the most damage,” said Pokorny, who is also the Weston fire marshal. “There’s not a lot left there because it burned through the roof.”

Firefighters responded to the scene just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Horners were not in the home at the time, and the couple’s two cats were found unharmed.  No firefighters were injured in fighting the fire.
