WESTON, Conn. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that gutted much of a home at 6 Woods End Lane in Weston on Wednesday afternoon.
Weston Fire Chief John Pokorny said Thursday that hes still trying to rule out possible causes for the blaze. Pokorny said the fire does not appear to be suspicious. Pokorny, the state fire marshals office and an investigator with homeowner John Horners insurance company are still combing through information.
Its down to an area of origin at the garage end of the house. Thats where theres the most damage, said Pokorny, who is also the Weston fire marshal. Theres not a lot left there because it burned through the roof.
Firefighters responded to the scene just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Horners were not in the home at the time, and the couples two cats were found unharmed. No firefighters were injured in fighting the fire.
