Committee chairman Maria Proto reportedly came up with the idea after realizing dog owners don't have a local place in Weston to let their dogs run without a leash, The Weston Forum reported.
The committee is looking at town-owned properties for a piece of land that is at least 2.5 acres and can be a fenced-in park, said The Weston Forum.
They are aiming to raise between $20,000 and $40,000 and are considering applying for grants after achieving nonprofit status, The Weston Forum reported.
