Weston Education Foundation Offers $1,500 Grants

WESTON, Conn. – The Weston Education Foundation invites local organizations and individuals to apply for grants of up to $1,500 to develop educational programs that will benefit the town. The foundation will pay for up to five organizations for 2102-2013, according to board member Marti Fischer.

The foundation has been issuing grants since 1994 and has paid for computer education at the Senior Center, Civil War remembrance activities at the Weston Historical Society, the television studio at the high school and “Years in the Making,” a documentary film.

Last year, a new Senior Center project was the only one that merited money, Fischer said, so only one grant was issued.

She said the foundation will give priority to new projects that promote educational opportunities and projects that promote community building. The foundation will not aid religious or political organizations, for-profit or parochial schools or nonprofit endowments.

An application packet can be downloaded at the foundation's website, www.westoneducationfoundation.org.
