Voice Your Opinion at Hearing Tonight

Easton residents will get a change to share their opinions Monday night about a developer's proposal to build affordable housing in town. The hearing, scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Helen Keller Middle School Cafeteria, was postponed two weeks ago because an outside consultant for the town was not able to attend.

Saddle Ridge Developers has proposed building 33 buildings with 105 homes near Routes 136 and 59. Thirty-two of the homes would be designated as affordable housing.

A recent town plan of conservation and development showed only 0.4 percent of residences in Easton are deemed to be "affordable housing." By law, if a town does not reach 10 percent, a developer is allowed to appeal and propose a project.

The wetlands meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 28, with a public hearing at 8 p.m. in the Helen Keller Cafeteria.
