Update Motorcyclist Escapes Injury in Easton Crash

UPDATED 1:11 p.m.: EASTON, Conn. — An Easton man walked away unscathed after a tree cut down by a resident struck his motorcycle, causing him to crash on Morehouse Road on Sunday, police said.

A resident was cutting down a tree on his 750 Morehouse Road property, police said, when it came crashing down into the road, taking down several power lines and hitting the motorcyclist. The incident knocked out electricity for area residents for hours.

The incident occurred between Route 136 and Center Road at 4:55 p.m.

Police Capt. James Candee said EMS was called to the scene as a precaution, but the motorcyclist declined treatment. The police issued no infractions to the motorcyclist or the homeowner.
