Upcoming Concert Honors Slain Westport Jeweler

WESTPORT, Conn. – Westporter Yekutiel “Kuti” Zeevi, the 65-year-old jeweler who was killed during a robbery in December, will be honored through music during a chamber concert organized by the Connecticut School of Music in Westport.

The April 29 concert will feature Zeevi’s wife Nava and son Neer, said Kenneth Kuo, a family friend and president of the school.

“The Zeevis were the first family I met when I came to America,” Kuo, a native of Taiwan, said in a statement. “I became very close with them while I attended the Manhattan School of Music. Kuti's son, Neer, and I practiced together, and Kuti's wife, Nava, would accompany us on the piano.”

Kuo, a cellist like Neer Zeevi, said the Zeevi family is the reason he came to Westport. “To me, they are just like family."

Music by Ray Charles and some of Zeevi’s other favorites will be performed, Kuo said. The concert is free and open to the public. For more details, call Kenneth Kuo at call 203-226-0805 or e-mail info@ctschoolofmusic.com.

The concert will begin at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Church, 10 Lyons Plains Road.
