Trucker Socked With Assault Charge

Sometimes a traffic jam can push a driver over the edge. That was allegedly the case with Steven Martone of Branford, who was arrested by Westport police Tuesday after he got into a confrontation and punched another driver in the face, police reports said. Martone, 42, a box truck driver, was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace.

Also from the police blotter:

? Peter Mousa, 21, of Stamford, turned himself in to Westport Police on Tuesday, knowing there was a warrant out for his arrest. The warrant was issued after Mousa failed to appear in court July 14 on motor vehicle charges. His next court date will be Aug. 25.

? Meredith Greene, 20, of 4 Vineyard Lane, caught the attention of police Tuesday night when her car crossed the double yellow centerline on the Post Road East. When stopped, Green slurred her words and was unsteady on her feet, police reports said. She failed field sobriety tests and was charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane.
