EASTON, Conn. A 17-year-old Redding boy was given infractions for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a routine traffic stop Monday evening, according to Easton police.
An Easton police officer pulled the youth over on Morehouse Drive near Samuel Staples Elementary School. When he got to the car, police said, the officer noticed a faint odor of marijuana. After questioning the driver and three underage passengers, the officer discovered three bongs, two lighters, a grinder, a plastic baggie containing less than one-half ounce of marijuana and a jar containing less than one-half ounce of marijuana inside the car.
The driver and passengers were brought to police headquarters, where they were released to their parents. The driver was issued infractions for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and violation of the motor vehicle passenger restriction statute. According to police, drivers under 17 can only have an adult with them while driving during the first six months that they have a license.

A 17-year-old Redding boy was issued an infraction for violating the motor vehicle passenger restriction statute after an officer saw the teen with three passengers under the age of 18 parked at the end of Elm Drive on Dec. 23, police said.
A 17-year-old Easton boy was arrested Tuesday and charged with striking his 49-year-old mother during a domestic dispute in their Wedgewood Drive home, police said.
According to police, the sister of the suspect called police at 9:45 a.m. to report that her brother had just hit her mother. When police arrived, the boy told them that he hit his mother after a verbal argument escalated into a physical confrontation.
He was charged with disorderly conflict and released on a written promise to appear in court. He has a court date set for Dec. 28 at Bridgeport Superior Court, according to police.
