Devil's Den was closed for five hours Monday after a black plastic bag filled with clothing was found in the park.
The Weston Police Department received an email with a photograph of the bag of clothing with possible bloodstains. The bag had been jammed underneath a log, said Weston Police Chief John Troxell.
The hikers who found the bag marked the coordinates with a GPS on their phone before emailing the picture to the police department. The clothing was negative for blood in a preliminary test by the state police. Troxell said it could be a false negative because it has to be a dry sample.
The police were drying out the clothing Tuesday before sending it to the state forensic lab for analysis. The police determined Devil's Den did not appear to be a crime scene and reopened the park.
The bag of clothes was found off of the path, about five minutes from the entrance at Pent Road.
