State Roads In Redding Partially Obstructed

REDDING, Conn. – Routes 58, 53 and 107 in Redding are partially obstructed, with CL&P crews working to clear them, Redding public information officer Candy Wood said early Wednesday afternoon.

Wood also said that 80 percent of town residents remain without power.

Redding schools are closed for the rest of the week, with plans to reopen Monday if roads are clear for buses, Wood said.

A shelter is open at the Redding Community center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for water and meals and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for electric charging and Internet access. There is an open gym at the Community Center from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with open access for grades 5 and up.

The Redding Community Center doesn't offer sleeping facilities, but shelters in Ridgefield and Bethel are available to Redding residents. The Ridgefield center is at 194 Danbury Road and Bethel is at 1 School St..

Showers are available at Joel Barlow High School, and non-potable water is available at the high school, the community center and the recycling center.
