Stamford resident Antonio Rende, 24, of 14 Scott Place, made the poor decision to drink and drive back in June. Monday he turned himself into Westport Police.
Patrol officers detected alcohol of Rende's breath after he drove his car off the road at the intersection of Bridge Street and Compo Road South. But because he was injured, they took Rende to Norwalk Hospital.
Police applied for a search warrant on Rende's blood sample records, and once the results came back, an arrest warrant was issued. Rende is charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive right. He is due in court Aug. 19.
