Funeral services were held Wednesday morning for Westport resident Sharon Seaver Broecking, who died after being hit by a car while crossing Post Road East on Dec. 21. She was 62.
She was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Pittsburgh but grew up in New Canaan. She moved to Westport as a young adult and had been a resident ever since.
Known to her friends as Sherry, Broecking worked for many people at the Lansdowne Condominium complex on Post Road East in Westport. She also cared for their animals and could be seen daily, no matter what kind of weather, walking their dogs. Broecking, who was passionate about animals, often stopped by the Connecticut Humane Center just to visit with the dogs and cats who are there waiting for homes.
She is survived by her mother, Elinor Seaver Roll of New Canaan; her sister, Pamela Seaver VanDerheyden and husband Michael VanDerheyden of Fairfield and their three children, Chelsea VanDerheyden, Heather VanDerheyden and Hogan VanDerheyden; and her brother, James Seaver of Boston; her aunt, Janet Annunziato and husband Dr. Lewis Annunziato of New Canaan; cousins Mark Annunziato, David Annunziato, John Annunziato, Amy Annunziato Sullivan; and her beloved dog, Reggie. She was predeceased by her father, Howard E. Seaver.
Services were held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in New Canaan. Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.
