Selectman: A Third of Easton Still in the Dark

EASTON, Conn. — About 1,086 households were still without power in Easton as of 7 a.m. Saturday — about 37 percent of the town's customers, said First Selectman Thomas Herrmann in an email to The Daily Easton.

By mid-afternoon Saturday, 300 more customers may have power — "as the trucks know what work is needed and are prepared to tackle it," said Herrmann. Nearly the entire town was without power after Hurricane Irene last weekend.

Norton and Freeborn roads are the highest priority to be cleared so school buses can get by Tuesday.
