Second Burglary Suspect Arrested

Easton police arrested a 24-year-old Bridgeport woman Sunday afternoon and charged her with burglary, criminal attempt to commit larceny and risk of injury to a minor.

Police were called after a resident of Wedgewood Drive reportedly saw the suspect, identified as Jill Katz, rattle the doorknob and ring the doorbell at about 1:30 p.m. According to the report, Katz left the house and returned a short time later and rattled the doorknob again.

A young woman inside the home told police she went upstairs to get her phone and saw the suspect walk to the side of the house. The girl's parents returned home, and officers Tom Brennan and Gary Csanadi responded.

Katz allegedly entered the home from a side or basement door. The parents told police the suspect had been hiding in a closet in the basement but escaped through a "rear basement slider."

Police located her walking on Ferndale Drive and identified her as the intruder.

Katz admitted to police that she burglarized the Wedgewood home and another home in Easton, which is being investigated.

Southbury native Mallory Reed, 27, was arrested Sept. 7 after a homeowner allegedly returned home and found her in the house on Knapp Street.

The women were held on $50,000 bond each.
