School Spending, Story Time Fill Easton's Week

EASTON, Conn. – Hey Easton, are you looking for something to do this week? There are several town meetings, including a possible Board of Education budget vote, children’s arts and crafts and kids story times rounding out the happenings around town this week. Here is the weekly rundown:

Tuesday, Feb. 14

7:30 p.m.: Board of Education will meet at Helen Keller Middle School, located at 360 Sport Hill Road.

Wednesday, Feb. 15

10:30 a.m.: Get the little ones moving and grooving at the Easton Public Library’s baby/toddler be-bop movement class. The exercise is open to children ages 6 to 36 months. It will run for about 25 minutes and incorporates children’s songs, finger plays and simple stories while using props such as puppets, musical instruments and rhythm sticks. The library is located at 691 Morehouse Road. Registration is not required.

4 p.m.: Children can create a red-white-and-blue votive in honor of the upcoming Presidents Day holiday during the hourlong children’s arts and crafts program at the Easton Public Library. The program is open to children in kindergarten to second grade. Registration is required for this free event. Contact the library for details at 203-261-0134. The library is located at 691 Morehouse Road.

5:30 p.m.: The Region 9 Board of Education, for both Easton and Redding, meets at Joel Barlow High School, located at 100 Black Rock Turnpike in Redding.

6:45 p.m.: Children can create a Presidents Day penny star in honor of the upcoming holiday during the hourlong children’s arts and crafts program at the Easton Public Library. The program is open to children in kindergarten through second grade. Registration is required for this free event. Contact the library for details at 203-261-0134. The library is located at 691 Morehouse Road.

7:30 p.m.: The Easton Board of Education will meet to possibly vote on the 2012-13 proposed school budget. The meeting will be held at Helen Keller Middle School, located at 360 Sport Hill Road.

Thursday, Feb. 16

2:15 p.m.: Children ages 3 and up are invited to attend this twice weekly preschool story time program at the Easton Public Library. Children will listen to several books being read aloud by library staff and then create a fun arts and craft project that ties into the books. The program is held every Tuesday and Thursday. Registration is not required.

4 p.m.: Children in grades kindergarten and above are invited to attend this twice weekly big kid story time program at the Easton Public Library. Children will listen to several books being read aloud by library staff and then create a fun arts and craft project that is related to the books. The program is held every Tuesday and Thursday. Registration is not required.
