School Road In Weston To Close For Bike Event

WESTON, Conn. – The Big Bike Pedi Event, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 9 on School Road, is a motor vehicles free afternoon. School Road will be closed to all motorized vehicles from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. giving cyclists, pedestrians and others the opportunity to exercise freely.

Ray Rauth, president of the Weston Bicycle And Pedestrian Committee, which is sponsoring the event, said, “It gives people the opportunity to use their bikes and gives everyone a sense of community rather than a town divided by roads. It’s a feel good event.”

There will be organized sporting events, including softball, on the high school fields for all age groups. The Booster Barn will be open for refreshments.

Parking is available at the middle school and Hurlbutt Elementary School lots but School Road will be closed from noon to 5 p.m.

This is the Weston Bicycle And Pedestrian Committee’s first Big Bike Pedi Event. Hurricane Irene forced postponement of last year’s event.
