School Leadership Changes Top Weston Area's Week In News

WESTON, EASTON AND REDDING, Conn. – Administrative changes at two of Weston’s public schools led the area’s news this week. Here are some of the top stories from Weston, Easton and Redding from the past week.

? Weston Middle School and Weston Intermediate School both learned that they will have new assistant principals next year, as Michael Bernardi and Doreen O’Leary will move on to new jobs in July. The Board of Education has launched a search to replace both by July.

? Redding rejected a proposal to install a Police Commission Monday. The ordinance failed at a town referendum by 500 votes.

? Redding’s Bruce Winters helped Community Plates expand its services closer to his home, with the organization opening offices in Danbury.

? The Connecticut General Assembly wrapped up its session this week, passing a controversial state budget, voting to restrict access to crime scene photos and taking other last-day votes.

? Hurricane season returned to the area this week, and the first tropical storm already made landfall. Storm Andrea dumped several inches of rain on the area Friday.
