EASTON, Conn. -- The new Easton animal shelter is nearly three years behind schedule and little money is left to pay for the project, according to a Hearst Connecticut Newspapers investigation.

At least 10 subcontractors, vendors and an employee of Carlson Construction LLC of Bridgeport -- the contractor for the animal shelter -- have a verified state Department of Labor claim that Carlson owes them tens of thousands of dollars, the story says.
