The following message is from State Rep. John T. Shaban, Redding, Easton, Weston.
As we begin to clean up from this weekend's storm, I wanted to take the time to update you on the current status of electricity.
As of Monday morning, 48 percent of Connecticut Light & Power customers were without power and 70 percent to 95 percent of Fairfield County was without power.
CL&P has secured contractor crews from Canada, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Alabama, Michigan and Massachusetts.
Crews from Colorado are on the way and we are looking for additional resources.
The current focus is to restore power to critical facilities; work with the state/towns to clear roads; patrol and assess damage and restoration of the largest outages affecting the most customers.
Due to the unprecedented amount of damage, restoration estimates for individual towns are not available at this time.
Partial restoration will take place by the end of this week and full restoration of power will likely not be until early next week.
Should you need immediate assistance in cases of emergency, please do not hesitate to dial 911. Or if you have questions about your power supply, call CL&P at (800) 286-2000.
