Power Outage Forces Some Westport Shops To Close Early

WESTPORT, Conn. —  A few stores in downtown Westport, including Banana Republic, closed early Thursday afternoon due to a power outage that left more than 1,200 customers in the dark in and around downtown Westport.

The outage hit at about 2 p.m., Connecticut Light & Power spokesman Mitch Gross said.

“There was an issue with some equipment at a Westport substation,” Gross said as to the cause of the outage.

Power was restored at about 3:15 p.m., he said.
