Police: Weston Man Reports Possible Identity Theft

WESTON, Conn. — A Weston resident has been the victim of identity theft, police said, after a PayPal account was opened in his name and more than $1,000 in charges were made.

The resident, police said, received a statement from PayPal on Nov. 14 showing an outstanding balance of $1,500. The man told police he did not open the account and that his identity must have compromised. The incident was under investigation, police said.

• An iPod and an unknown amount of cash were reported stolen from a locker at Weston Middle School on Nov. 11 at 3:33 p.m.

• A 13-year-old girl in Weston received a threatening and harassing voicemail on her cellphone from an unknown caller, police said. Parents of the victim called police Nov. 13 to report that their daughter received a voicemail at 1 p.m. in which an unidentified caller threatened to hurt the girl and called her various names. Police said the incident was under investigation.
