Online Auction Helps Homeless

Westport's Homes With Hope has kicked off an online silent auction as a warm-up for its Sept. 10 fundraiser, "Stand Up for Homes With Hope Starring Paula Poundstone." Launched Friday, it is the organization's first online auction.

Some items up for bid include an overnight stay at the Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa, a weeknight wine class for 12, a yoga starter-kit from Lululemon, and a private tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Bidding on some items, like four tickets to the Yankee/Tampa Bay game on Sept. 20, can only be done at the event.

The online auction was made possible with help from Harold Kamins, former president of A Better Chance of Westport, and was used successfully by ABC in the past, Homes With Hope President and CEO Jeff Wieser said in a release.

"ABC offered the program to Homes with Hope in this project to help expand the collaboration among Westport's non-profits in these challenging economic times," Wieser said. Homes With Hope provides supportive programs for the homeless.

Online bidding is open until 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 9. To register or for more information, visit the Homes With Hope online auction page.
