One Lane Of Wilton Road Reopens Near Merritt In Westport After Crash

Update: WESTPORT, Conn. -- One lane of Wilton Road in Westport has reopened as of 2 p.m. Thursday after a small truck hit a pole and pulled down wires, the Westport police said. 

The one lane is open between Newtown Turnpike and the southbound ramp for the Merritt Parkway/Route 15. 

Traffic will be alternating southbound and northbound, so motorists should expect delays in that area. 

The repairs are expected to take several more hours to complete.

Original story: WESTPORT, Conn. -- Wilton Road in Westport is closed Thursday morning after a small truck struck and pulled down a utility pole with wires, Westport police said. 

No traffic is allowed between between Newtown Turnpike and the southbound ramp for the Merritt Parkway/Route, police said.  

The accident is still under investigation, but no injuries were reported in the one-vehicle accident.

Police are "anticipating an extended road closure in this area. We will update any timeline information we receive from the utility company."

Police advise motorists to use an alternate route at this time.
