No Major Injuries Reported in Crash

The Westport Fire Department responded to a Sunday morning call of a single car accident on I-95 north between exits 18 and 19.

At about 6:20 a.m., firefighters found a wrecked Ford Focus in the right lane that had hit the guardrail, Assistant Chief Robert Kepchar said in a statement. One occupant, who complained of pain in her left thumb, was treated by Westport firefighters and EMS but declined to go to the hospital.

The car's front-end was heavily damaged, and it had to be towed from the scene. Firefighters removed fluids from the road. The last fire unit left the scene at 7:01 a.m.

State police were investigating the cause of the accident.
