No Injuries Reported in One-Car Crash in Easton

A Fairfield resident drove his car off the road in Easton on Dec. 21, according to Easton police. The man was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion north on Route 59 when his car veered to the left, crossed the road then crashed through a wire rope guardrail and landed on its side.

The man, 83, was trapped in his car until the Easton Volunteer Fire Department arrived to remove him from the vehicle. He refused medical treatment, saying he was not injured.

The man passed several sobriety tests, but indicated to the officers that he suffers from high blood pressure. He also said he did not remember what caused the accident, the report said. The driver was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane, and his license was temporarily seized to determine whether he is fit to drive.

The road revealed no skid marks or evidence of evasive action, the police report stated.
