NAACP Opens Probe Into Redding Man's Death In His Car

REDDING, Conn. -- The family of Gugsa Abraham Dabela -- who was found last year shot in the head in his Mercedes -- has requested the state NAACP investigate his death, according to a story in the Danbury News-Times.

The state medical examiner ruled Dabela's death a suicide, but the family has had questions about how the investigation was handled, according to the story.

The NAACP has a Wednesday, Aug. 5 press conference scheduled to discuss the case, according to the story.

Dabela’s overturned SUV was found at 1:40 a.m. April 5, 2014 on Umpawaug Road. Dabela, 35, had been shot once in the head, and a a semi-automatic handgun was found in the vehicle, according to the story.
