Bus service was provided for the 8:09 a.m. train departing West Redding and made all stops to South Norwalk.
The rest of the day's off-peak trains were already set to be replaced by bus service due to ongoing work on the signal system along the Danbury Branch.
The problem Wednesday morning appeared to be with the signal system, according to reports on Twitter, although Metro-North did not elaborate.
"The arm guards at the West Redding train crossing appear to be stuck in the down position. MTA police are on scene directing traffic," The Redding Pilot reported via Twitter @ReddingPilot. "And the train is stopped at the West Redding platform."
Bus service for most weekday off-peak trains and all weekend trains has been extended through Sunday, July 6, due to the ongoing work, Metro-North said.
