? The Westport Little League 12-and-under All-Stars secured their spot in the New England championships after defeating Maine, 3-0, in the New England Regional on Thursday. The team then won the championship game Saturday night and advanced to the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania.

? The state Department of Agriculture on Monday issued a voluntary recall of shellfish harvested from certain areas off Norwalk and Westport’s shores dating back to July 3, and shut down recreational shellfishing locations in those towns, plus Darien. The recall stemmed from reports of infections from vibrio parahaemolyticus, a species of bacteria that affects shellfish.

? Kibberia, a Middle Eastern restaurant, recently opened at 361 Post Road W. The family-owned and -operated eatery is the second in the state.

? Mosquitoes trapped in nearby Westport and Fairfield have tested positive for the West Nile virus, officials in both towns announced Tuesday.

? Madewell, a casual women’s clothing and accessories retailer, opened Tuesday at 155 Main St., in the space previously occupied by Coach.
