Let There Be Power, Easton!

EASTON, Conn. – By midnight Thursday, 1,117 Easton customers will have their power restored, United Illuminating reported to First Selectman Thomas Herrmann. That will leave 642 households without power.

By midnight on Friday, 320 customers will remain without power, and by midnight Saturday that number will drop to 120 customers without power. Two percent will remain without power by midnight Sunday–about 60 customers, Herrmann said in an email to The Daily Easton.

Samuel Staples Elementary School and the Easton Senior Center have power, and two United Illuminating crews were working at Helen Keller Middle School on Thursday and will hopefully have power restored by early Friday. The Board of Education had electricians hook up emergency lights for more showers at the middle school.

United Illuminating was working on Route 58, between Freeborn and Silver Hill roads.

Sport Hill Road and roads branching off it will be a priority for Friday, and consideration is now being given to those on wells, said Herrmann.
