Learn About Emergency Preparedness in Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – In an effort to help Westport residents better prepare for emergencies, such as Hurricane Irene or the historic October nor'easter, the Westport Weston Health District is hosting a public emergency preparedness forum, the health district announced Thursday.

Set for Monday, Jan. 30, the forum will be led by the Westport fire and police departments, the Human Services Department, the Department of Public Works and the Westport Weston Health District.

"Residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to learn from the experts how you and your family can be better prepared to handle an emergency and support the community in its response," the health district said in an announcement.

Residents will also be encouraged to talk about their personal preparedness experiences. The forum will start at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium, 110 Myrtle Ave. For more information, contact Mike Vincelli, director of emergency preparedness response, at the Westport Weston Health District at 203-227-9571, Ext. 233.
