Land Trust Holds Spring Nature Hike Sunday

EASTON, Conn. – Why not take advantage of the comfortable temperatures forecast for this weekend and hit the trails while learning all about Easton’s natural beauty and history? You can do all of this during a free, spring hike offered by the Aspetuck Land Trust.

On Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, there will be a Geology and Natural History Hike at the Jump Hill section of Trout Brook Valley. Residents are invited to join Norwalk Community College Anthropology Professor Ernie Weigand as he points out notable landforms and rock outcrops in the area.

Residents should contact Aspetuck Land Trust Director, David Brant at dbrant@aspetucklandtrust.org, if they plan to attend this free program. All hikers should meet at the Trout Brook Valley parking lot on Route 58.

If you miss this Sunday’s hike, the Aspetuck Land Trust will hold an Owl Inventory Walk at the Trout Brook Valley Orchard from 7 to 9 p.m. on March 31. Hikers will walk with Milan Bull, a bird expert and senior director of Science and Conservation with the Connecticut Audubon Society, and learn about the behaviors and habitats of owls in Easton.

To attend, email Brant and meet at the preserve entrance on Freeborn Road, right off 58, just past the Old Blue Bird Inn.
