Joseph Peloso, WWII Veteran

Easton resident Joseph Anthony Peloso Jr. died Feb. 3 in his home. He was 87. Peloso and his wife, Ruth Fareri Peloso, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

A decorated Navy veteran, Peloso served as a Radioman 2nd Class and survived the sinking of two LST ships in the Pacific during World War II.

He visited Europe, the Middle East and most of the United States with his family and friends. Originally from Yonkers, N.Y., Peloso was the youngest of nine children.

He is survived by his wife and four children, Tina Peloso-Ulreich and husband James, Mary Ellen Holtgrewe and husband Larry, Joseph Peloso and wife Michele, and Edward Peloso; sister Sadie Peloso; and nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were celebrated Saturday in Notre Dame of Easton Church, 640 Morehouse Road, Easton. Entombment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. It was Peloso's wish that there be no calling hours.
