If you think its time to get involved in the community, join women from all over town Friday at the Weston Womens League Open House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Women will meet members at the luncheon and learn how the group contributes to the community and local charities.
The WWL sponsors events throughout the year, including a weekly farmers market during the summer, the Halloween Ragamuffin Parade, the Childrens Holiday Breakfast and an annual baby shower for members of the Families and Childrens Agency MOMS program. The group sponsors regular social events where members to keep in touch.
Many of our members join shortly after they move to town and find its a great way to make new friends and connect with the community. They also find it fulfills a desire to give back -- especially with our focus this year on women helping women, said Kim Forte, league membership co-chair.
The group has donated around $600,000 to local charities such as Kids in Crisis in Norwalk, the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program and the Weston Education Foundation.
For more information on the open house, contact membership co-chairs Heather Pemberton Levy at hpembertonlevy@gmail.com or Kim Forte at kbforte@yahoo.com.
