Help Team Weston Make Strides vs. Breast Cancer

WESTON, Conn. – Grab your sneakers, family members and friends and join the Weston Women’s League on Sunday, Oct. 30, at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Westport’s Sherwood Island State Park.

Debby Katz, Ali Melito and Karyn Harwood are team captains for Team Weston and hope you will support the cause in the fight to end breast cancer. Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in women and over 200,000 women are diagnosed yearly. Since 1993, nearly 7 million walkers have raised more than $400 million to help fight breast cancer through participating in the noncompetitive, 3- to 5-mile events. In 2010 alone, nearly 800,000 walkers across the country collected more than $60 million to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays.

Breast Cancer has directly affected many of our close family members and friends. We all worry about our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and friends who may one day face this disease. Please make a difference by walking with us on Oct. 30, or by making a tax-deductible donation. Contributions of any size help us reach our $10,000 fundraising goal.

We are hoping to recruit a large and diverse WALK team. We encourage everyone and anyone to participate–husbands, grandparents, children, co-workers and friends. This hands-on event is a great opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends and to share a sense of accomplishment for a very special charity. We will celebrate our success and dedication following the walk at the Team Weston tent with healthy snacks and treats.

How to get started: Join Team Weston! Go to www.main.acsevents.org/goto/teamweston and set a personal fundraising goal. Send out emails/letters to friends and family for support and donations.

Can’t join our team?  We welcome donations of any size. Every bit counts toward our fundraising goal. Your contributions make a difference in the lives of the millions of women and their families struggling with breast cancer.
