Ex-Westport Swim Coach Gets 8 Years For Sexual Assault

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Former Westport swim coach Jeffrey Schare was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two Fairfield girls, according to ctnews.com.

Schare, 44, was the coach of the Westport Wreckers swim team and was a math teacher at Staples High. He began "grooming" the victims, who are now 12 and 9, and began sexually assaulting them over a three-year period, ctnews. com reported.

Schare was arrested after one of the victims complained to a counselor at her school, ctnews.com said.
