EASTON, Conn. First Selectman Thomas Herrmann spoke to three people from United Illuminating on Thursday, trying to get more resources in Easton to help restore electricity lost during Hurricane Irene.
"I'm frustrated, like everyone in Easton," said Herrmann. UI did not restore the 950 households it expected to Wednesday. The website reports no new power restoration in Easton, but Herrmann said the electricity went on in some places in town Wednesday.
"The plan changes moment by moment based upon what they find," said Herrmann. "UI is currently assessing the situation and will report back shortly on what we can expect for today and tomorrow and what they plan for resources."
A crew was working on lower Sport Hill Road in Easton on Thursday morning with a plan to go up the road. A crew in Fairfield was expected to work on Morehouse Road and Easton's Senior Center but was delayed in Fairfield. The crew from Sport Hill Road was redeployed to Morehouse Road, said Herrmann.
Based on United Illuminating's website, "Easton is a low priority given the number of outages and a high number of incidents," he said. "We're trying to get more resources and continue to persevere to restore the town as soon as possible."
The Easton Garden Club is providing meals through the senior center and will deliver food and water to those in need.
