Easton Residents Get Water and Meals From FEMA

EASTON, Conn. - The National Guard delivered Federal Emergency Management Agency provisions Thursday morning to Easton and members of the Easton Police Explorers are distributing them to residents in front of the police station.

Two bottles of water and one ready-to-eat meal per day per person are provided, with family members signing their names when they take the provisions.

Provisions will be handed out until 6 p.m. Thursday and again Friday.

Shaun Malay, an Easton resident, picked up water and meals. "We have no power but we're well prepared," he said. "We went nine days without power during Hurricane Irene and five during the October snowstorm, so we're ready. Malay said he has an 18-month-old son "who has already experienced three power outages in his life."

Aaron Simkovitz, an Easton Police Explorer, demonstrated how to prepare the meals, which come with a heater pad that prepares a hot meal.
