EASTON, Conn. Nearly $13,000 in road-related bonds were refunded to Easton residents Thursday night during a Board of Selectman meeting.
The selectman approved a total of seven road opening bonds and one driveway bond, totally $12,750 in refunds to residents.
According to the Easton Engineering Departments website, A 'Road Opening Permit' is required for all excavation on public property. This includes either work in the road or on the towns right-of-way. A bond is required and the bond amount depends on the extent of the work. One the work is completed and approved by Town Engineer Ed Nagy, the money is refunded back to residents.
Residents who received road opening bond refunds are as follows:
- David Allen received a bond release of $2,500 for a property located at 240 Morehouse Road.
- Todd Waterman received a bond release for $750 for a property located at 15 Easton Heights Lane.
- Eileen G. Pandagast received a bond release for $2,500 for a property located at 94 Burr Street.
- Jaclyn Conelius received a bond release for $2,500 for a property located at 88 Beers Road.
- Rana Dutta received a bond release for$750 for a property located at 5 Easton Heights Lane.
- The Town of Easton also received two bond releases, one in the amount of $1,000 for a property located on Tuckahoe Road, and another for $250 for a property located on North Park Avenue at Stepney Road.
The purpose of a driveway bond is to ensure each resident has a working, up-to-code driveway that does not cause damage to town roads or residential properties. Under the ordinance, which was enacted in 1980, a homeowner must post a $2,500 bond to ensure driveway work is done correctly.
Brian Wenzel received a driveway bond refund of $2,500 for a property located at 39 Flat Rock Road.
