EASTON, Conn. A photograph is a work of art, says Easton photographer Amy Dolego, when you can make the viewer think, this is what I see, and challenge them to find something more from their own experience.
Dolego is showing a range of captivating photos in the Wandering West show at the Easton Public Library. The show kicked off July 2 and runs through Sept. 4, with photos that offer an interpretative view of the West, from the California coast to the Oregon desert, Colorado Rockies and canyons of southern Utah.
They depict a wide variety of topography in the West, from the desert to the ocean, with a voyeuristic look at animals wandering, Dolego said.
The show features color and black-and-white photos, with the color photos framed in white, which makes them very expansive.
Theyre not just pretty pictures, Dolego said. They have concepts and ideas married with composition in a painterly sense of the word.
Dolego gave up a personal business to focus on photography. She attended SPEOS, the Paris Institute of Photography, in 2006, and opened Winton Studios, which specializes in architectural, interior design and real estate photography.
The photos on view at the library are fine art and are for sale at prices ranging from $125 to $425.
