Easton Fireman's Carnival Kicks Off Tuesday

EASTON, Conn. – Sixteen rides, from the Cliff Hanger to Zero Gravity, as well as the famous peach shortcake, will highlight the Easton Fireman’s Carnival from July 31 to Aug. 4 on the green in front of the Easton fire house, 1 Center Road.

The carnival, which will be from 6 to 10 each night, is celebrating its 77th anniversary. Admission is free, but a ride band costs $20, which allows unlimited rides. Rides include a 90-foot-high Zip Cord, a Roco Plane, a Ferris wheel and a roller coaster, according to Richard Stewart, from Stewart Amusement Co., which provides the rides.

Another carnival highlight is the raffle, with a grand prize of a red 2012 Jeep Wrangler.

The peach shortcake is courtesy of Siren Aide, the fire department’s ladies auxiliary, which operates the dessert tent at the carnival. An assortment of carnival food also will be available.

Siren Aide and other locals are volunteering to assist the fire department, which raises money through the carnival to support department activities.

Parking is available at Helen Keller Middle School, 360 Sport Hill Road, and Silverman’s Farm, 451 Sport Hill Road, with free shuttles available to the carnival.
