Easton Burglary Suspect Arrested

Southbury native Mallory Reed, 27, was arrested by Easton Police on Tuesday after a homeowner allegedly found her inside her home on Knapp Street. Reed fled, and the homeowner discovered that jewelry had been taken. Reed was charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree larceny and has been held on $50,000 bond.

Reed fled the Knapp Street home in a blue Lexus, but not before the homeowner wrote the license plate and called police.

Police do not know whether Reed, who has been living in Bethel, was responsible for a string of burglaries in the area earlier in the summer.

Another burglary occurred on Flat Rock Drive on Sept. 8 after Reed was in custody. A homeowner returned home at about 1:20 p.m. and found a car parked in the road between her and her neighbor's driveway. When the homeowner got closer to her house, she noticed a woman with brown hair walking from the side of the house, claiming to be lost. It was later determined that jewelry was missing from the home. The suspicious person left, and the homeowner was not able to recall the license plate on the car. The incident was under investigation.
