Driving is Not Child's Play, say Cops

Not to be a nag, but don't drive a car with a child on your lap. Tore Nag, 56, of 19 West Branch Road, Westport, did just that according to Westport police. A concerned citizen saw him with his ten year old allegedly steering the vehicle through Compo Beach. Police located Nag and charged him with risk of injury. They said the proximity of the airbag and the lack of a seat belt created a serious danger to the pedestrians in the area.

Also from the blotter:

Gerald Alston, 38, of 394 Dogwood Drive, Bridgeport, has a suspended license, according to Westport police. When they stopped him for an expired registration they discovered the license issue and that he was also uninsured. They said it wasn't Alston's first time facing charges for driving when he shouldn't. A warrant was issued following a 2007 arrest for speeding and operating under suspension. Alston was charged with failure to return his license, insurance below minimum requirements, operating under suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and second-degree failure to appear. His total bond came to $3,000. He is expected in Bridgeport court on Aug. 13.
