A Davis Hill Road resident called Weston police Monday to report that a child walking home from a school bus stop when a man drove up and offered her a ride.
According to the police report, the 12-year-old girl told her mother that the man did not threaten her, but the encounter left her feeling uneasy.
"No other similar incidents, involving same car or person, were reported or investigated by our department or other departments in the area," Detective Carl Filsinger said in an email.
The man was described as wearing a plaid jacket and driving a white luxury car. The report indicated he was in his 50s or older. Weston police said this description does not match details from a similar incident in Fairfield.
Although there is no law that mandates an adult be in attendance when a child gets off a school bus, the National School Transportation Association advises at least one adult be at the bus stop to supervise children.
