Crash Sends Two to Hospital

A car crashed into a wall on Cross Highway in Westport on Saturday evening sending two people to the hospital, the Westport fire Department reported. The condition of the driver of the vehicle, who went into cardiac arrest, is unknown.

According to a release issued by Assistant Fire Chief William Dingee, when firefighters arrived on the scene, Westport EMS personnel were already administering CPR. Coleytown Station 6 and a rescue vehicle responded to the accident along with the shift commander. The accident occurred at 7:53 p.m. and the scene was cleared at 11 p.m.

According to the report, the driver was in cardiac arrest. Firefighters helped load the patient into the ambulance for transport. No further information is available. A passenger in the car received only minor injuries and sat in a police cruiser while examined, before being transported to Norwalk Hospital in a second ambulance. No other cars were involved in the accident and the cause is still under investigation.
