Crash Of Recreational Vehicle Cleared From Merritt In Westport

Update: WESTPORT, Conn. -- The crash of a recreational vehicle has been cleared from the southbound Merritt Parkway on the Westport-Fairfield border, the Connecticut Department of Transportation said.

Original story: WESTPORT, Conn. -- Traffic on the Merritt Parkway is slowed Tuesday afternoon because of an accident involving a recreational vehicle, the Connecticut Department of Transportation reported.

The accident is between Exits 44 and 42 on the southbound side of the parkway near the border of Fairfield and Westport. The right lane is closed.

Backups of 4.8 miles are reported on the southbound parkway in the area, with rubbernecking delays reported on the northbound side.

The accident was reported at 3:30 p.m. It was not clear how long it would take to clear the scene.
