Cops Probe New Burglaries

Westport police were investigating the burglary of a home on Forest Drive Tuesday night to see whether it is linked to 10 similar burglaries that have hit Wilton and Easton.

Four of the burglaries occurred in the Westport-Wilton area in last four days, including the most recent on Forest Drive in which the occupants of the house were sleeping upstairs as the robbers stole electronic equipment and some jewelry.

Burglars also struck homes in Wilton on Henry Austin Drive, Pond Road and Sturges Ridge Road, taking cash and jewelry.

Ten days ago, seven homes in Easton were robbed in a spate of weekend robberies that also took place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Homes on Stonesthrow Road, North Park Avenue, Tatetuck Trail, Barrows Road, Bayberry Lane, Grace View Drive and Cross Bow Lane were broken into and cash, jewelry and sports memorablia were taken.

Police have no descriptions of the robbers. They are reminding residents to lock their homes and cars before going to sleep or before leaving for an extended period. To reduce the risk of being victimized, they advise residents to activate alarm systems or make their homes look occupied. Police also suggest keeping an eye on neighboring homes. If something looks out of the ordinary, gather as much information as you can and contact your local police department.
