? Many local runners took part in the Boston Marathon, but none were harmed in the explosions near the finish line. Unfortunately, Weston High graduate Victoria McGrath was hurt while there as a spectator. Her injuries required surgery, but her family reports she is doing well.
The investigation continued through the week, and then on Thursday Boston Police and the FBI identified two suspects. On Friday, law enforcement believed a third suspect may have gotten on a train into Connecticut, stalling Metro-North trains and creating lengthy delays.
? On the Weston Police front, Chief John Troxell told a crowd at the Weston Democratic Committee meeting that his department was “ahead of the curve” in preparations for emergency situations. He also went over some of the new initiatives in place for school and town security.
? In Redding, work is scheduled to begin on a bridge spanning a small creek on Route 58. Traffic will be reduced to one lane periodically throughout the summer while the state Department of Transportation improves the infrastructure.
? Spring has arrived in Weston and Easton, and the Aspetuck Land Trust is ready for the season. The group has organized a series of educational hikes through its preserves, which started this weekend and will continue throughout the spring.
