Westport Police are probing whether two Vermont residents, arrested Friday on the Post Road around 1 a.m., were involved in the burglary of a Forest Drive home earlier this week.
Officers had received a report of "suspicious people" walking in the Kings Highway North neighborhood and a pickup truck was seen leaving the area. Officers pulled over the truck on The Post Road and its occupants, Earl Rosen IV, 24, of Richmond, Vt., and Geneva Milne, 20, of Jericho, Vt., ran. They were captured after a brief chase.
The couple is suspected of breaking into seven cars in the Kings Highway North area. So far, three residents have confirmed their cars were broken into and identified items police recovered from the duo's truck. Among property stolen were GPS units, iPods, and other personal items.
Westport Police Capt. Sam Arciola said officers were canvassing the neighborhood to identify other possible victims and to see if there is a link to the Forest Drive burglary. "We weren't able to make that connection yet," Arciola said. "We're still in the preliminary stages of the investigation."
Police are trying to identify at least four more victims whose property was recovered. If you live in the Kings Highway North area of town and feel your vehicle was broken into early this morning, police are asking you to call 203-341-6000.
Both Rosen and Milne were charged with third-degree larceny, conspiracy and three counts of burglary. More charges are expected as police identify other victims. Bond was set at $75,000 for both suspects. They are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 23.
