Burglar Nabbed While Hailing Cab

Milton Namcela found himself trying to hail a cab around 5 a.m. Sunday. But the ride he got came from the Westport Police.

Namcela was arrested as the suspect in a late-night burglary. According to a report issued by Sergeant Eric Woods, the homeowner was with guests on the patio behind the house when they saw someone walking around inside. They confronted him, and he bolted out the front door.

Police used thermal imaging cameras to search the perimeter for a heat signature. The K-9 unit began looking for a scent. They found a blood trail near the back of the home and determined the suspect was most likely still in the area. Hours later, police found Namcela after a tip about someone trying to hail a cab in the area of break-in. The owner reported nothing was missing.

Namcela, 22, of 50 Grandview Ave., Norwalk, was charged with second-degree burglary. He was being held at the Westport Police Department. Bond was set at $10,000.
