EASTON, Conn. A black bear was spotted Wednesday on Route 58 near Valley Road in Easton, but the Easton Police were unable to locate it. They were called by a resident and by the Redding Police, who were also looking for the bear.

Mark Farrington, 46, of Bridgeport, was issued a ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance after colliding with another car on Freeborn Road on July 10. No injuries occurred.
Two teens found swimming in Easton Reservoir were issued trespassing infractions. Jean Claude Lemeur, 17, and Gary Andrews, 18, of Trumbull, will be required to pay fines.
The owner of a home on Adams Road reported the theft of computer equipment and jewelry worth $9,000. Police investigated but found no evidence of a break-in or damage to windows. The items were taken between June 3 and July 4.
Damage to a door at Samuel Staples Elementary School was reported on July 6 following a dance recital.
